my heart sprayed upon the wall
in paint instead of blood
dripping upon the pavement
like steel upon the horizon
endless gray and brown fog
smeared like grease across the sky
while fields of wheat
pay tribute to this unfair land
my thoughts sprayed upon this crumbling landscape
like ink stains upon an ancient blotter
sucking up more than just excess
taking all of what there is left to give
my body sprayed upon the couch of my loneliness
allergic to politics and all religious affiliations
trapped inside an aching cage of flesh
imprisoned on an island within this city
my spirit sprayed upon the wind
seeking empty space and high places
caught in the ocean tide
like steel upon the horizon
